Hurricane Katrina: Lessons Learned for Primary Health Care
The SPCPF organized the event to facilitate discussion of the deficiencies in the US health care system highlighted by the Hurricane Katrina disaster and to increase awareness of health care policy options to address system deficiencies. Moderated by SPCPF President Gary Colangelo, DDS of Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield, the session featured an impressive panel of speakers:
Gloria WilderBrathwaite, MD, MPH, President/CEO of CORE HEALTH and the Founder of JUSTICE SPEAKS;
Robert L. Phillips, MD, MSPH, Director of the Robert Graham Center: Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care; and
Sara Rosenbaum, JD, Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Harold and Jane Hirsh Professor of Health Law and Policy, Professor of Health Care Sciences, George Washington School of Medicine and Law.
