Kennedy and Nexon Receive
Primary Care Leadership Award

The SPCPF selected Senator Edward Kennedy and David Nexon, PhD as the first recipients of the SPCPF Primary Care Leadership Award.  The SPCPF recognized these leaders for their contributions to shaping national policy that has enhanced primary care.  During his eight terms of office as a US Senator and in his leadership position on the Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions (HELP) Committee, Senator Edward Kennedy has been a champion for significant health care legislation.  David Nexon serves as a Senior Health Advisor to Senator Kennedy and for over 20 years has worked on the Hill.  He is also the Minority Staff Director for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Subcommittee of the Senate HELP Committee.  In these roles, David Nexon has crafted and led reforming legislation to enhance primary care delivery.   David Nexon attended the SPCPF Annual Meeting for the presentation of the Award.   In a separate ceremony, leaders of the SPCPF will present Senator Kennedy with his award, an engraved Nambé plate.
